Hello and welcome, thanks for the message!
You already did enough to be part of the league but I'll give you a more thorough description below. Don't be scared, it's much easier to do than to read.

First we'd like to have a few info on yourself: where are you from? Are you an experienced racer or a total newbie? You can race either way, it's just to know.
It would be nice if you could post a brief message on the forum just to say: "Hi, I'm here". Most of the forum is in Italian right now, but we had foreign speakers in the past and people will switch to English if you (and others) write. Important announcements are in both languages.

Before each race you will find a thread in the forum announcing the race itself and the reference time: if you want to participate just drop a message there telling us which car you plan to use to meet the reference.
If there are more than 19 drivers (rare) people that race the whole tournament have precedence.
From time to time we also have non-championship races, just as valid for statistics etc but bearing no points; precedence is reversed in these races.

We meet in the chat "italiani" (no quotes) on vroc. We have testing sessions every saturday night (italian time) on the track of the next race. You can find people that race just about every night on the same channel.

Schematically:

1) read the rules on the homepage (you probably already did this).

2) read the thread server settings, necessary to race (this is mandatory)

It's a 2 minute thing, much longer to read than to do.
Please note that things will probably be simpler in the near future if nobody uses 56k connections anymore.
We use the bandwidth patch with settings 5+2, 3/84/3/116. Detailed, easy, instructions at the above link.

3) download and install the carset we use.
It is entirely up to you wether to install it or not but it's nice to have it and it doesn't influence anything else gpl related.
Just download the archived files and unpack them in the proper directory.
